Well, I had arthroscopic knee surgery. Bummer. We will, therefore, most likely begin Open Gyms following the Winter Holiday break as I am not allowed to run until then.
Thanks.

D10 Championship Results
On good days, well, good things happen. And on off days, you have to chalk them up to something. What could I have done differently? What caused me to not be at my peak performance? Why did this happen?
I've never found it very useful to dwell on the "what-ifs." In the end, you never really know, I guess.
But there are some things I do know. I believe in hard work. I believe in overcoming obstacles. I believe in not quitting. And I believe that you get back up when you're knocked down.
Let's see how we respond then.
Until then, here are the results: Distict X Championship Results (2016)
The banquet is on Nov. 8th at 6:30 at Pleasantview Alliance Church.
Please bring in all of your uniforms, cleaned and folded neatly in your team duffel bag, by Wednesday. We are packing them Friday.

Please come to the last home volleyball match, tomorrow night, October 25th. This will be Senior Night for our 2 Cross Country seniors, Ben Haylett and Emily Ford.

What a great day we had. Just check out the results. They are here: Region 3 Invitation results.
More importantly than that, though, is this: we are where we needed to be. The remarkable improvement is because of the hard work you did! Look at our Varsity Girls' times. I couldn't be more proud. What a grand day for our Jr. High Boys! So close. And we are so much better. Great things to come. Very exciting time to be part of this program.
I already miss the junior high.
Okay. Now to this week. Our district race is Saturday. The bus leaves at 7:45am. We want the junior high to go with us to see what districts is all about. We are eating at Golden Corral after, so it will be a longer day than usual. Our booster club is picking up the tab.
Also, as a heads up, our banquet is Nov. 8th at Pleasantview Alliance Church (on Rte. 86). I believe the time will be 6pm. More to come on this.

Region 3 Invitational
The Region 3 Invitational is this Saturday at Franklin at Sandy Hook Elementary School--the same place we raced recently. The course, apparently, has been modified a bit, to add distance. We will see, I suppose.
Anyhow, the races begin at 10am (probably with Junior High girls). Our bus departs at 7:45 sharp.

Home Meet Breakdown
Well, we pulled off another great event. Thanks to all helpers and parents for making it as special as possible.
Starting with the Varsity Boys: Colton Beck ran an 18:32 in his first home race. Wow. Congratulations. We have great hope for your future, Colton! Following Colton, Erik, Devin, Jacob, and Dakota all broke 20 minutes. Good job! Many PRs!
Varsity Girls: We beat Titusville! This means we finished 7-1 for 2nd place in Region 3. That's a great year for us.
Beka won in 20:20. Great time...peaking at the right time, too! Following Beka, we had positions 5, 6, 7, 9 and 16. Very nice. Karley, Emily and Maddie were all grouped together for a great sprint finish that was fun to watch. Erika and Lexie were not far behind. Lexie ran a 25:41. Nice job all!
Jr. High Boys: Ryland made a run for beating Cambridge's top 3, but it didn't pan out. Still a 13:34 is fast! Following Ryland, we had Max, Shea and Landon all close together, then Nathan and Isaac, Conrad, Anthony and Dustin brought us home. We lost to Cambridge which put us at 7-1 for second place in the Region. Great season, boys!
Jr. High Girls: Paige won again! Great finish, Paige--15:26. Cassidy came in 5th for a nice finish, too. Congrats to our girls!
I am very proud of our team this season.
One more to go for Jr. High--the Region 3 championship at Franklin on the 22nd. We will be ready.

HOME MEET is Tuesday. This is the one and only chance we have to showcase how good we are. Come and see.

Twitter Feed and Franklin Tri-Meet
Check out our twitter feed at @shscrosscountry to see how The Panther Press (@PantherPressSHS) covers all of Saegertown's events. They give us great coverage. Thanks to all the Tweeters!
Great races at Franklin as our Varsity Girls moved to 5-1 on the season and our Jr. High Boys go 6-0. Next week's home meet will decide who wins the Region. Our girls will need some help as Oil City is currently 6-0 and have beaten us already. The boys will need to knock off Cambridge Springs, which will be an uphill battle. But we have plenty of "uphills" here on our course, so we will see what happens!
A special shout out to all of our runners who PRed at Franklin. We'll take it. We did have a few winners yesterday: Paige won the Jr. High Girls race, Ryland won the Boys. New addition Max F. was 4th in his first race as a Panther harrier. Murph led our Varsity boys for the first time and Beka (followed by four in a row to place positions 2-6 overall) only trailed state qualifier Savanna Carr from Franklin.
Great performances, Panthers!

Cochranton Invitational 2016 Results
Wish you were a Saegertown Panther!
We had a great day yesterday. Most of our runners had personal best times, called PRs (personal records). When that happens, it means we are peaking at the right time.
Very proud of our team!
Here is a link to the results: Race Results
Also, our race this Tuesday is at Sandy Creek Elementary School in Franklin, which is directly across from the high school. Check out the schedule above to see depart times.
We are gearing up for the end of the season. We will see what happens...I think we are exactly where we want to be.

Cochranton Invitational 2016
Please check out the race times for the Cochranton Invitational 2016 above. The race is at the Cochranton Elementary School, which is straight through the red light in town (as you're coming from Saegertown, still heading south). The elementary school is on your left a 1/2 mile (??) after the light.

Friday, September 23rd
We are not having practice this Friday as it is our homecoming game and frankly, we need the rest. Our team is coming to the point of the season where we need to back off a little and prepare for the final stretch, the run to the finish (pun intended).
We have several runners who appear to be hurting and some who are one step from injury. We just need to take it easy without giving up all we've worked to achieve.
I'm excited for the races ahead, but I am also cognizant of the fact that we have to be healthy for those races.
See you Saturday. Check out the link on the previous post for Saturday's information.

CASH Invitational
Not too bad this past weekend considering the weather.

Beka--3rd (22:00); Karley--15th (23:22); Emily--20th (23:52), then Erika and Lexie in 22nd and 39th.
The Junior High Boys placed 2nd having an excellent day.
Ryland was 7th, Landon 9th, Shea 14th, Nathan 17th, Isaac 21st. Then Conrad 27th, Anthony 29th, and Dustin 30th.
The Jr. High Girls were led by Kyla in 5th, Paige in 6th and Cassidy took 27th.

Maplewood (with Oil City) Meet
We finally began our Region 3 events.
Our varsity boys were led by Gabe D. with a time of 19:24 on a slow course; this placed him 2nd overall.
Our varsity girls were led by Beka M. with a time of 22:46, placing 2nd followed in 5th by Karley P. in 24:04.
The girls went 1-1 on the day beating Maplewood.
The junior high boys went 2-0 led by Ryland L's winning time of 11:55 followed by Shea D. and Landon C. in 2nd and 3rd.
The girls were led by Kyla S. and Paige F. placing 3rd and 5th.
It's a decent start with plenty of room for improvement.
This Saturday's CASH invitational information is above. Be advised that Linesville's annual Waterfowl Expo will be going on the same day; we should arrive earlier than its start time, but it will be hoppin' by the end of our day.

McDowell Results
Great job today runners! We are right where I expect us to be at this point in the season. Nearly everyone improved, and as a first race, this one is always hard. It's a good gauge as to where we are headed. Pack Attack!
4 medalists today: JHG: Kyla-12th, Paige-13th. Good job girls
VG: Beka was 32nd.
VB: Gabe was 39th.
Additionally, Ryland should have received a medal for 21st, but they only awarded to 20 instead of 30. Rats!
Anyhow, good day. See you Tuesday!

Team Shirts Are In!
I am picking up our new shirts on Wednesday after practice, so they should be able to be passed out Thursday. A Spirit Wear order form will be developed shortly, as well, and we will take a quick order if anyone is interested in those.
Also, don't forget--hoagie forms are due this Friday.
Good first practice "after school" today. The rest this week should help us greatly for Saturday's race at McDowell.

Reservoir Hill
Today we ran the Hill! And it is hard. And you did it. We are the only team in this area (and possibly the state) that gets to work out on such a beast. And you did it well. Congratulations.
Tomorrow, we recover a bit for Saturday's Time Trial #2.
Hoagie Form and Parent Transportation Release Form is now up on the blog.

DAY 3
Today we ran 400s. Many. Fast. The team is shaping up very well. Gabe's interval pace equates to about a 17 flat 5k. Impressive. All of the varsity boys hit their goals. ALL!
The varsity girls were spot on, too. We have a wonderful team developing there. Six runners and all ahead of pace.
Junior High boys -- 9 solid runners. Some fast efforts today from Landon, Ryland, Isaac, Nate and Shea. Very nice. All are on track.
The girls unfortunately have only 3 runners. We need 2 more! What we have, though are very talented. Kyla and Paige followed by Cassidy makes for quality!
Good day. Pack Attack.
Impact testing tomorrow for all 7th, 9th, and 11th graders, at the school from 11:15 to noon.
Parent meeting will be at 6pm at the SES Pavilion.
Good stuff.

Season is Fast Approaching
On August 15th the newest version of the Saegertown Cross Country Panthers will begin. Practices begin at 8am sharp and will end at 11am each day.
You must have a completed physical form on file with our athletic director so I get a copy from him. No physical = no practice = losing out on precious practice time to prepare for the season. Please be ready to go on the 15th.
Open Gyms continue with Fuzzy and Ashley at the Dam as they have been all summer.

Saegertown High School Cross Country Summer
Program 2016
WE ARE NOT HOLDING FORMAL OPEN GYMS THIS
SUMMER. The coaching staff has too many other
obligations, unfortunately, and our incoming seniors are too few to put the
responsibility on them. So, we are
asking you to pay very close attention to our Cross Country website. If we decide we can have an Open Gym, we will
post the information (location and time) as early as possible. Or check the twitter feed for the same
information. Pass the word when you get
the information. When we do have an Open
Gym, we will run for 35-45 minutes, then work on our Core.
We ask that
you run on your own as much and as often as possible. Work on your Core. The Core Challenge below is what we do every
day at practice (though we start by doing ½ of each exercise).
If you have
any questions or concerns, email me at whetrick26@gmail.com. I check my email often. We have a blog that updates all information. Please check it out daily at: shsxc.blogspot.com. Also, we have a twitter feed. Follow us at: @shscrosscountry
Physicals
are provided by the school for the entire year are on June 22nd and July 13th from 9am to 12pm. Your parents must sign the forms.
Also,
we start official practices on August 15th. We practice from 8am to 11am every day,
Monday through Friday, and Saturday from 8:30-9:30am. This schedule applies only for the first two
weeks before school begins.
Please
check the team blog for further information and updates as Summer progresses.
