Race Tomorrow & No Practices . . .

We have a race tomorrow at Cochranton; Cambridge Springs will be there as the third team, too.

Also, as a heads up, we will not be practicing Friday.  And we do not have school on Monday, October 8th, so we will not be practicing then either.  We are asking that each runner get a 30-60 minute easy run in on Saturday AND Monday.

Cochranton Invitational 2018

Just wow!  What a great day, overall.  Several earned medals, many set personal records, and our Varsity Girls team placed 3rd (by just 1 point).  We are starting to see the pay off from all of the miles and from delaying the intensity of our speed work.  We will continue to see ourselves improve if we show up ready to work, especially with the desire for a strong close to the season.  Region and Districts, here we come.  And States.  We will see you, too.

Here is a link to all of the results:  Cochranton Invitational 2018

McDowell, here we come.

Time Trial and McDowell Information

We had a very good day on Saturday.  The Time Trial results are listed above.  You can see much improvement.  And now that our school-year practices are beginning, and by necessity shorter practices (which rest the legs more, too), you will begin to see the runners get into even better shape.

New McDowell Invitational information is posted above.  Everything you need to know is there.  The bus departs at 6:45am sharp on Saturday.  Please remember that if you plan on taking your runner from the event in your personal vehicle, you must sign him/her out with the managers.  We can only release the runners to the parents (and only if he/she has submitted the form). Also, ALL runners need to remain with the team until the end of the event unless there is a prior reason given for someone to depart early before we have all raced and received awards.  We practice as a team, we race as a team, we support each other.

Lastly, it's going to be a great season!

Hoagie Sale

We have indeed started a fundraiser. We are selling hoagies; we sent home forms today. Please look at the due date and delivery date. This one sale will help pay for the things we do this year--shirt purchases, invitational fees, our banquet, etc.

I will post the form tomorrow for those of you who desire an extra one.

Time Trial #1 Results

The results for the time trial are now posted above.  Keep in mind that some of the runners were directed to not run at full speed.  Also, every athlete is different.  Some of us are "race-ready" from the beginning and some of us will gain great adjustments in our time as the season progresses.

Our ultimate goal is to get each athlete to peak in the middle to end of October.  Our program is designed for that.  Saturday was a great start for that.

Time Trial #1

Wow.  Just wow!  What a great opening to our season.  Today's simulated race went off very well.  For those from past season, your times did drop (we will discuss on Monday).  For those new to the program, everything I saw today indicates success.

Good job everyone!

DAY 3, Parent Meeting, Time Trial #1

Today we ran our first speed workout and most were very consistent with their interval pacing.  That is a good sign.  We also did a long warm-up run to help build our base mileage.  The team is coming together nicely.  We have 23 runners and 4 managers.  We still need more runners.

Parent Meeting tomorrow at 6pm at the SES pavilion.
Time Trial #1 on Saturday.  The whistle blows at 9am; arrive by 8:15 to got through your normal warm-up and stretch routine.  We invite all to stay and see what we've been up to.

On Sunday June 3rd, we are holding our annual Out-Run Cancer Run from 8am-Noon at the High School track (sometimes called the football field).  The fundraising form is attached (above).  This is our only summer fundraiser which helps provide what we need for the Fall.  We donate half of all funds raised to the Yolanda Barco Oncology Center, too.  See the form above.

District X Track and Field Championship

This past Saturday, Beka M. and Gabe D. both competed at the D10 championship in Slippery Rock.  Beka placed 10th in the 1600m and Gabe placed 5th in the 1600m and 6th in the 3200m.  Both of Gabe's performances earned him medals!  It was a great day to be a Panther.  Congratulations.  See results here.
